Barton Supplies Ltd is a professional family – owned company and promises to protect your privacy and not abuse your trust. We only use the information that we collect about you lawfully and in accordance with DATA PROTECTION ACT 1998 and GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATION (GDPR) 2018.

Your Personal Data

Data is collected by us when you contact to make enquiry (by visiting our Showroom, Website, Email, Telephone or via Social Media). You can make an enquiry safe in the knowledge that we will not pass your details to other prior to requesting permission from you, nor will we contact you for any reason other than in relation to your enquiry.

The Data we collect could include your name, address, telephone numbers, email address and your IP address, as well as information regarding the pages on our website that you have accessed. At no point will we ever store any kind of payment or card information.

If you have requested a Site Survey or a Quotation, where possible our salesperson will carry out the survey, however, in some case we will need to arrange a Hetas or a Gas Safe Engineer to carry out the survey. In such case we will inform you in advance and request your permission, and thereafter pass your information to book an appointment to visit you for a Site Survey.

We will never collect sensitive information about you without your explicit consent. The information we hold will be accurate and up to date and if you find any inaccuracies we will delete and correct them promptly.

Email Follow-Ups/ E-Newsletters

We do not use MailChimp to deliver any e-letters or special offers.

We will only email for marketing purposes if you have given us your consent to receive communications from us via email. We may also email you for non-marketing purposes in direct relation to your enquiry or order.

Out of Hours Answering Machine

Our offices are open Monday to Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm, Saturday 9.00am- 4.00pm. Out side of these hours we have a telephone answering machine, that you can leave your message on, Calls recorded

for enquires, are dealt with promptly. Calls are recorded for training and monitoring purposes and will be held for a period of 12 months.

17 and Under

If you are aged 17 or under, please get parent/guardian’s permission before providing personal information to us. Without this consent you are not allowed to provide us with your personal details, if you are enquiring as apart of a school project, please ask your teacher to contact us on your behalf.

Photography and Testimonials

Any images of customers Fireplaces or reference to our customers in their feedback are used in such ways to protect their identity. We do not disclose any customer details except where we have express permission ender a specific set of circumstances. 

Customer Orders

When processing your ordered, relevant data is collected by us to enable us to order correct products from our manufacturers, your details will be held securely on our database, and your contact details will be passed onto Hetas or Gas Engineer who you have already agreed a Site Survey and Installation with, to carry out the install of your fireplace.

We will use your details to email you your quotations, invoices/statement, and collecting payment, or for booking deliveries and to deal with any enquires or complaint made by you or about a relating order/ service

Upon completion of your order, we will request the Installing Engineer to delete your information from their files within 3 months. but will be retained on our data base 6 years.

Credit / Debit card details will only be taken to process your payment and will not be stored at any point.

Job Applicants, Current and former employees

All of the information you provide during the process will only we used for the purpose of progressing your application, or fulfil legal, regulatory requirements if necessary.

We will not share any of the information you have provide during recruitment process to any third parties apart from Peninsula Business Services, our Human Resources & Health & Safety advisor. The information you provide will be stored securely by us whether the information is in electronic form or physical format.

We will use contact details you provide to us to contact you to progress application, we will use the other information you provide to assess your suitability for the role you have applied for. If unsuccessful, applicant’s information will be retained for a period of 12 months.

Successful candidates will be asked for Proof of Identity, Driving License, Proof of Qualifications,

Basic Criminal Record Checks, Health Questionnaire, Emergency Contact details, Bank Details, NiI Numbers. All information will be held securely as a part of your employment file and will be retained for a period of 6 years after employment has ended with us.

Third Party Data

Where we deal with Third Parties we will only deal with GDPR compliant companies. If we are given a phone number, we check any details provided by a third party with the TELEPHONE PREFERENCE SERVCES, to ensure that we do not contact customers that have registered with TPS as a way of preventing unsolicited telephone calls.

We receive customer referrals from select number of Fireplace Manufacturers, Property Developers, Hetas and Gas Safe Engineer. They will only give us your personal details if you have specifically enquired with them about our products, or if you have agreed to them passing details on to third parties, if you have any queries, you will need to refer to their privacy policy.

Our website uses Hyperlinks to other websites that are owned and operated by third parties, these third-party websites have their own privacy policies and we urge you to review you them. Whilst these websites are well-known, we do not accept any responsibility or liability for their use and you do so at your own risk.

You may be aware that there is a technology  known as “cookies”. This is a file which is transferred from the website to the hard drive of your computer. We use cookies to track your activities on our Website. A cookie will not allow a website operator to obtain information of personal nature that will identify yourself to us, such as your name or address.  We will only be aware of such information if you have provided the details to us or you have set preferences in your browser to provide this information automatically.
